Reproduction in resin of Vittoria Alata of Brescia. Article by Selezione Zanolli.
Vittoria Alata, one of the symbols of the city of Brescia, is a bronze statue from the 1st century AD. Found in 1826 at the Capitolium in Brescia, where it is still preserved. The statue represents an Aphrodite who is reflected in the shield of Ares, supported by both hands. After centuries of oblivion, the work was found in 1826, partially disassembled and carefully hidden in a cavity of the Capitolium between the temple and the Cidneo, together with many other bronze pieces, probably to ensure that during the invasions of the barbarian peoples (Goths and Huns) it was not melted down in order to obtain of weapons.
