The Lampe Berger catalytic lamp was born in 1898 from a brilliant intuition of Dr. Maurice Berger to solve the serious problem of asepsis that plagued hospitals at the time. This special lamp made with a patented method by Dr. Berger is still today absolutely unsurpassed for its ability to catalyze bad odors and is able to purify and perfume the air of indoor environments thanks to the burner, consisting of a catalyst that allows combustion up to 500 degrees which facilitates the catalytic oxidation of alcohol thanks to which bad smells are eliminated. The second zone at 200 degrees of which the catalyst is made allows instead the delicate diffusion of the fragrance.
In the package you will also find a funnel to pour the liquid more easily into the lamp and a wick which in fact is the piece that will burn in the absence flame during the operation of the lamp which can be extinguished thanks to the aluminum cap which is used to remove oxygen during combustion.

How to light up a Lampe Berger?
The operation of the lamp is very simple:

• Pour the liquid inside the lamp thanks to the small funnel supplied. It is a good idea to leave two or three fingers from the mouth to allow oxygen to circulate inside.
• Continue inserting the wick into the mouth of the lamp (consisting of a cord), which must soak in the liquid. It is necessary to wait about 20 minutes covering with the special aluminum cap to ensure that the cord has absorbed the liquid.
• At this point you can switch on the lamp for example with a lighter and leave the flame burning for about two minutes .
• After two minutes the catalyst stone will be ready and it is possible to blow to extinguish the flame .
• Inside the package there is a decorative perforated cap that must be positioned, at this stage, to protect the hot stone; at this point you can let it work for as long as you like: Maison Berger Paris's advice is 30 minutes for a space of 12 m²
• To turn off the lamp it will be enough remove the oxygen by means of an aluminum cap also supplied.
• The next time and as long as there is liquid inside the lamp you will no longer have to wait for the cord to be soaked, it will be sufficient to limit yourself when the flame is lit and wait two minutes before turning it off.
• If you do not intend to use the lamp for several weeks, the burner must be removed, and must be replaced after using it more than 200 times (or every year)
• If you need to change the fragrance , you can do so by continuing to use the same wick but first you have to run the burner to allow it to be cleaned with “Neutre Essentiel”. Remember that with this same Essential fragrance you can regulate the intensity of the fragrance by diluting it.
• If you use fragrances other than those of Maison Berger you can seriously damage the burner and / or in the absence of alcohol or if essential oils are used, the system will not work.
